Mission and Service
Les Écluses, a PHC housing project that provides housing for people living with mental health challenges. Les Écluses provides residents with community-based housing support through intervention workers from Projet suivi communautaire. The community housing support aims to assist individuals to develop their autonomy, strengthen their housing-related skills, and support their participation in community life. In addition to receiving follow-up services, support, and access to a subsidized apartment, residents will be encouraged to actively participate in the organization’s community activities and to begin or continue steps toward a new living environment.
Description of Les Écluses housing:
16 subsidized units for single individuals, located in the South-West of Montréal (Pointe-St-Charles).
Main criteria for housing eligibility:
Be 18 years of age or older;
Living with mental health challenges that outweigh a concurrent disorder;
Have a level of autonomy in line with the services offered;
Be eligible for the Rent Supplement Program managed by the Montreal Municipal Housing Office for a subsidized housing application;
Have a low income;
Have Canadian citizenship or Canadian permanent residency;
Have the motivation and interest in getting involved in cooperative type living;
Engage in community support;
Demonstrate an ability to live cooperatively;
Not a full-time student.
